Making things easier does not necessarily makes them simple. When striving for Simplicity, we must consider very carefully how we encapsulate complexity. Creating hollow or faulty abstractions might make things easier at first, but that might not translate to a simpler, more orthogonal system.
A reliable environment is a fundamental prerequisite for building competence.
That really resinates with me. When I moved from tilling window managers to GNOME I felt that I had a very reliable environment and could focus on just getting better at my craft.
